Evangelism University

This weekend is the Evangelism University that is hosted by the Lord’s church in Savannah, TN.  This will be the fourth "E.U." that we have attended.  Here are things that each young person needs to bring:

  1.  Bible

  2.  Appropriate Clothing

  3.  Bathroom Stuff

  4.  Pen

  5.  Sleeping Bag and Pillow

  6.  Money for 2 Meals

We will leave at 4:00 p.m. Friday and return Sunday afternoon before evening services.  I am very proud of our young people who have chosen to go learn about evangelism: Katie Bean, Leigh Leonard, Kara Riley, Kristen Hall, Drew Cordle, Devin Hall, and Jared Hall.  In addition, I am very thankful for Beth Irwin and Gayle and Wava Hall who are going as chaperones.  Please be praying for us as we make this trip.

A Great Encourager Passes

When I lived in Memphis I worshipped with the Coleman Avenue church of Christ.  It was a congregation of primarily older     people    who    allowed several young men straight out of college to  live in a house they owned.  These young men invited many of their  friends   to  worship at  Coleman.  Before long there was a group numbering around 30 of these young professionals who   worshipped with this congregation.  It was a wonderful experience for the old and the young.  One of the older men who I will never forget was Brother Cletus Engle.  He always had a smile, a kind word, and a story (mostly about hunting or fishing).  Cletus was one of the finest encouragers that I have ever met.  His words of encouragement have carried me through many days.  Cletus loved to sing.  During our singing nights I could hear him singing high tenor.  Last night, I received word that Brother Cletus had passed on to his reward.  I already miss my brother in Christ and I ask you to pray for his wife, Ann Engle.
