Youth Devotional

     We had another youth devotional last Sunday evening.  I want to thank Leslie and Bettie Bean for hosting the devotional.  I am also grateful to Randy and Amy O’Bryan for helping serve food.  Devin Hall gave an excellent devotional.  We are blessed to have families to host and young men to speak.     

Fruit Baskets

     Fruit Basket day is next Wednesday.  The sign-up lists are on the tables in the lobby.  Please sign up by this Sunday evening.

Cause for Concern

     According to Group Magazine, in the next 30 minutes:

¨         29 people under 18 will attempt suicide.

¨         57 people under 18 will run away from home.

¨         14 girls under 18 will give birth out of wedlock.

¨         22 girls under 18 will have abortions.

¨         685 people under 18 will take narcotics-all are regular drug abusers.

¨         285 people under 18 will become victims of broken homes.

¨         228 people under 18 will be beaten, molested, or otherwise abused by their parents   

     These stats are alarming, and they are more than just statistics, they are real people.  We need to pray for and encourage young people every time we have a chance.  They need our support, leadership, and love.  Take time over the next week to do something important in the life of a child.  It will bless them, and you, and most importantly, it will please God.
