A Prayer for Our Homes

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name in all the earth. May Thy will be done in homes on earth even as it is done in the heavenly home.

We thank Thee for the righteous homes of the past. For the excellent example and thrilling inspiration they left us we are truly grateful. For every husband, wife, father, mother, and child who has worked toward having a good home., we give Thee our unstinted gratitude.

We thank Thee for the righteous homes of today. Wilt Thou bless them that they may become greater citadels for right, truth, purity, and peace. Bless every husband and wife in the marital relationship. May there be a deepening of their love. May their marriage never know the chill of hatred and the freeze of harshness. Bless all fathers and mothers who have brought little children into the world. Impress upon every parent the great responsibility that is daily his to point his children’s footsteps toward Thee. Bless our children as they live in a world of woe, an environment of evil, a camp of crime. May they be strong and say decisive NOs to the wickedness that seeks to overwhelm them in the days of their precious youth.

We are so thankful for Jesus and what He has meant and can mean to our homes. Help us to enthrone Him as the ruler and guide of our homes. Help us to build our homes according to the pattern He laid down in Holy Writ.

We thank Thee for our faith and hope in the heavenly home. We thank Thee for the glorious glimpses of its beauty which have been given to us. Help us to be faithful so that one day in the future we may come and live with Thee and Thy Son. Help us to put Christ in our homes in order that one day He may put us into His heavenly home. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
